Just thought I'd post this for anyone who happens to be close to Blyth(Northumberland, about 11 miles north of Newcastle) this weekend.

Our club is having a demo by Magaret Garrard this Saturday and anyone can attend.

Demo starts at 9.30(ish) and should finish around 4.30
It's free but there's a raffle to help raise funds.
Tea, coffee and biscuit break morning and afternoon plus lunch break (there's a local chippy and sandwich shop)

Directions are on the website

Should be an enlightening and enjoyable day Duncan, must say looking at your clubs map reference brought back a distant memory shared by this family.

Almost 50 years ago whilst returning from a tour of Scotland we B&B'd our way down the east cost.
Late one evening we acquired last minute lodgings and not wishing to waste any sight-seeing time headed for the nearest coastal point for the last throws of the evening sunshine.

That place was Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, never have we had such a shock as awaited us as we drove through the village to the sea front.

It was Black, and I mean everything, houses, streets, surroundings, beach, even the sea.

A working Coal mine, dumping its spoils offshore was not what we had anticipated.

No doubt it is a somewhat cleaner environment now.

Just trying to be helpful, but Margaret's name is Gerrard not Garrard. I think Garrard got started owing to a misprint somewhere else. :)
