Hi all.
I've got an old makita belt sander, a 9401 or something like that. The pad that sits between the belt and the base plate has disintegrated, and they don't seem to be available from any of the parts companies that I've found.
Has anyone got any ideas to get this sorted? It's too good a tool to let gather dust just for want of a simple part going missing!
Thanks

The Makita belt sanders I've had always had two pieces of material, not one. Closest to the steel base plate is a piece of thin cork sheet and between that and the belt is a piece of graphite cloth. Either should be available from a woodworking machinery dealer or an abrasives supplier who can supply made-up belts as opposed to an ironmonger or internet tool seller

Quick Google produced this vendor of graphite cloth. Not sure about the cork sheet, though

Hi H R Axminster power tools keep both the cork and the graphite pads. Thats where i have
got mine in the past.
