When i went to pick up the SIP morticer from Lesley i also bought some boards of Wenge that Trev had very neatly sticked . They are around 2m x 500mm wide x 28mm thick and very flat but sawn . I am thinking of turning these into worktops for my kitchen but i will need to cut the timber in half to have enough to make all the worktops and then buy some 45 mm thick wenge to make the edge so it looks like a solid 45mm worktop .
Ive worked with wenge a few times but never tried anything like this , i was thinking of glueing the wenge to a plywood base and fixing from underneath , ill try and keep it as thick as i can but lets say worst case i get 9mm thick x 100mm x 2m planks or would i be better going for 50mm ? Any ideas ?
Jason .
P.S The board have 1984 written on them and the moisture meter read 11 at Lesleys .
