Me again

You may have seen my small chair side table that I have just completed :p

Well I had an idea

As I have a set of plans for this project , I was thinking of a little challenge for you spinney people ?

I can send you the plans FREE :p but you must make the table in 4 weeks and post photos of it on here 8) Good so far :?:

Then when you have used the plans you then let the next person know via this web site that you will send them on FREE to them :p
So by the end of next year everyone will have one

So Who Wants them first ?

Reply on this post , but PM the address to me and I will send them on :p

The plans look like this

Go on then Blister

I need some turning practise. I'm self taught and seem to be producing the same old boring shapes :( So this will help me produce something with traditional curvy bits, that i've not really tried before.

So whats the prize for the best one?

I'll have them after seanybaby - i'll pm my address to you sean rather than to blister - that will give me time to get the workshop set up (as swimbo and me have just moved in together and my lathe is still at my old gaff)

OK Sean

They will be in the post to you on 23rd

and don't forget 4 weeks and we want to see the table , I will be counting the days  :p

It was definitely harder than i thought. Some of the central column just seemed to be getting smaller and smaller  Should have used the same timber as well, but just used what i have available, beech and sycamore.
I have not really turned anything like this before, sticking to simple shapes. I will try and incorporate more beads, coves etc in future work.

I have posted on the plans to big soft moose, good luck, i know i needed it.

Cheers Blister

Andrew

Andrew

The top and bottom need to be about 7" x 2 1/4"

the post needs to be 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 13" , in good old feet and inches

These sizes will give you room to play with

I used Oak for my project

Do I put you down as next on the list :p :p

Yes,I'll give it a go - just wanted to check I had some suitable sized timber in stock first :D

Andrew

If it's OK I'd like to have a go at this Allen, make a change to actually work to a plan. Do I give you my address or one of the others?

Pete

Sean has posted the plans to big soft moose , not sure he has a lathe yet ?

Next in line is Powertool ( Andrew )

Then ( Bodrighy ) Pete

MR MOOSE ? have you got a lathe ?????????

I'll tell you what Allen, Sean's is better than yours.....
that was a great idea of your's.

yep - i'm still using my axminster M600 ( which ive had for 9 years) - my quest is not for a lathe but for a bigger lathe ( a feeling you should be able to associate with allen.) tho this is slightly hampered by the fact that @sshole neighbours complaining to the letting agent about our car parking means i need to leave room in the garage to get the car in at night, which means that a wivamac is out of the question (also the fact that swimbo and i get married in less than 12 weeks)

anyway I digress - The axy 600 will handle this project.

if powertool/andrew pm's me his address I'll send the plans on when i'm done (swimbo says i have to make two btw ;) )

Is this project open only to the Uk based guys ? or can others join in ?

Im not sure how big the plans are - re postage - but i'd work off a PDF if that was possible ( and legal ) to save some costs.
