There are 2 feather boards on Ebay at the moment, with 9 bids. The price is £10.60 plus postage. The same feather boards are in the axminster catalogue at £4.51 each. Beggars belief!!

I know what you mean, the times i`ve seen bids higher than the buy now price is crazy.
Either folks just like spending money, or someones just bidding them up.

It was worse/better in the early days of eBay. I know a few people who made their wealth from a spare bedroom with a computer buying and selling on eBay.

when i first started selling sutff on ebay, Motorcycle parts, Used to break em, There were only about 30 pages of spares. Looks like theres 6000 now!!

Just noticed a new section Aviation.
Anyone want to buy me a chopper??, cant fly it but would make a good conversation peice for the garden!!!

I spent months trying to get a trailer bargain.

People were paying more than retail for an Ifor Williams.!

Ended up buying from a local dealer and negotiated a 15% discount.

Yup I agree. ebay used to be the place to buy, sell even swap stuff either nearly new or good secondhand old stuff. Now it's become just a cheap storefront for too many businesses, chancers and dubious types.
Just go into almost any section and change to criteria from 'show all' to 'used' and you'll see what I mean. One section, think it was power tools, listed thousands until I changed to 'show used only', then it was around 600.
Ebay - not what it was and fast becoming pointless.

Could just be as simple as winning the item at any cost :(
Why else would anybody pay over the odd's?
Plus of course a bid of fixed bidding by some seller's.
It seem's to drag sucker's in like Camelot.
Rollover= double your stake.........and still lose!!!!

THe real scam is the shipping and handling....
Another here in the states is the Government is wanting back taxes that have not been paid.Income & sales tax...woo to those who get caught.

discussing this earlier with my bro. we used to buy in the local rag and expect to pay 20- 30% of the new price but e bay now more like 80% with extra risks in the process!! stil i have got afew bargains and also some (mostly) that werent exactly cheap but available and obscure(almost any woodworking tool) it is the availability that has increased along with the price.
