Mahogany?

Could possibly be African Walnut?

I had a few pieces of flooring that I thought were going to Mahogany but turned out to be a darker a brown, without the red tint. Has a very similar grain to mahogany, but colouring is different.

Some of these tropical hardwoods need a birth certificate I reckon.

The problem with the mahogany family of timbers is that there's loads of different sub-species which all look very similar...I'm not sure if Utile and Sapele are even classified as mahogany. I've heard of the so called 'African Mahogany' which is what I suspect I've got and it's not supposed to be particularly pleasant stuff to work with - Rob
