Hi
My mother asked me to make a basic telephone seat out of pine but with a mahogany finish. I've made the seat/table and applied several coats of Rustin mahogany gloss. I have a nice finish. But there are several dust specs in the gloss finish. I have de-nibbed with some fine pads.

Once I have applied my last coat, if I give a light rub with a fine pad to remove some of the specs, could I then add a coat of clear wax to give the piece a sheen? It's an oil based varnish and fiddes clear wax

After you have applied your last coat and it has fully cured you can charge up a pad of '0000' wire wool with a paste wax and rub this in, with the grain, you will de-nib and wax in one application, all you will then have to do is give it a good buff.

Regards,

Mrpercysnodgrass.
