Looking for hinges

Evening all.

I want to replace some hinges on my caravans under seat storage.
Someone recommended toy box hinges that move forward when opened so as to give the seat cushion somewhere to go rather that getting squashed and pushing the lid back down.

Problem is, i cant find any like that by seaching "toy box hinges" & don't know wgat else to call them.
Can anyone help with them or similar?
And any ideas on a mechanism to keep the lid up without too much expense as there a few to do?

Unfortunately they wouldnt work for this, however they would be perfect to replace two plastic versions of those on a fold out table that bend all the time.

I assume you know what they look like? Have you image searched toy box hinges and had a look to see if you can see something similar. If so screen shot img and post here and someone may be able to identify them for you.

Good idea.
I don't actually know what they would look like but i have seen these below designed for kitchen cupboards. But i think they stop at about 75 degrees. If there was some that would open to 90 degrees or further they would be ideal as they would be lifting from a horizontal starting point rather than vertical.

Would it make sense to have the flaps hinged on the bottom edge, so they fold down onto the floor? You'd lose the thickness of the door flap off the available size of the opening, but ordinary hinges would do.
Alternatively you could make the doors fully removable. Use a couple of dowels for location and magnetic catches to hold them in place.

Could you bring the hinge point forward a bit, so instead of hinging right at the back of the seat, against the wall, fit the hinge a cushion width forward. You'd just cut the seat support so a small section was fixed and the rest lifted.

I've now realised that you probably want to hinge a horizontal seat so you can lift it and reach down inside. I was imagining that the vertical part under the seat was hinged.

Rob's idea seems a good one, or you could just make the seat drop into a rebate or rest on battens so you can lift it aside.

As already suggested, move the hinge line forward by the thickness of the cushion and consider using a gas strut to hold the lid open. If you arrange the strut correctly it will hold the lid open and closed. It takes a little to get your head round it but it works. I use the system on the lifting deck boards of boats.
