Just thought i'd show the piece of Holly i turned about 5 weeks ago and how it as dried out in the house.

This was the effect i was after.Honest.
Gap is now 5/8" wide :D

As Nick said, turn the walls thinner, or turn the central heating off. (Been there, done that) Ain't learning curves great?
 
Cracking piece there Paul, now lets see you splice a nice piece of contrasting wood in there and then thin the walls down. :lol:

Chas i already suggested doing this,but swmbo likes it the way it is.
I thought if i put a lighter piece in it would match the bowl i done the other week :wink:

Someone in this thread had a piece that did that and 'sewed' it up with strips from an old suede jacket or something. Looked good too. Ring bells with anyone?
