I was looking at these display cabinets for my shop:

Does anyone know if it's possible to add locks to a cabinet like this easily? If so from where?
Many thanks
Gidon

If they're not already cut for the installation of cam locks, you could be in for a world of misery. Often these cabinets have a 19mm hole cut on the opposite side from the hinges, which can serve as the mounting for a lock, handle or just as a finger pull to open the door. Making a hole like this is nearly impossible, especially in tempered glass.

As Stech says if they are not already drilled you will have a job finding a lock that will not involve a new piece of glass as the cabs are likely to be toughened glass which you won't be able to drill.

Then again they're relatively cheap for a glass display cabinet so you could probably get a replacement door made, drilled to your spec, then toughened and still be quids-in, assuming you don't need 20 of them, lol.

I pay about £35 /sq m for toughened 6mm, if that helps.

come on guys they're from IKEA, do you think they are going to have a pre-drilled hole?

Darn! I thought there might be some way of mounting without a hole but it seems not. Thought the price was too good to be true!
Replacement door is an option but would need two or three and may just look for the real thing.
Thanks a lot for the replies ...

Thanks I hadn't spotted the drilless ones  - I did look at the emorland link earlier and phoned them but didn't get through - will try and again tomorrow. I haven't got the Ikea cabinets yet and it's a right trek to get them so would like to confirm these things will work!
Cheers
