I'm close to joining the "old wood working machine fan club"
picked up an item from another forumite earlier (thanks David the bandsaw wheel kit is going to be a godsend, great workshop you have too), few days earlier i happened to notice this little machine on ebay & that it would be on the way so did a double pick up this aft.
Little 6" planer which i identified with googles help as a Dodd machine, no motor & the original base is gone, but i though what the hell, make & offer & see what happens, if anything will give me something to do late on an evening when machining would be too noisy.
so, £40 later and its mine, apart from being very gunk'd up & covered in surface rust its a neat little machine, well made & sturdy, the only thing on it that's a bit crappy is the quality of the guard compared with the rest of the machine.
took it home tonight and started stripping it, so far so good, its coming apart & cleaning up very easily, only one ding in the out feed surface which im not worried about. the blades are in surprisingly good condition, will probably order some new ones if i can find some matching spec ones, hopefully cutting solutions have them.
will get it cleaned, and probably repaint it (probably will be green instead of blue as i already have that on the shelf) & rebuild with a base & new/old motor...
whilst im a big fan of old machines, i dont really have room for them & hate moving them but this little thing is about right for my home shop.
will post more pics when its all done.
