This is my Lad Alex, he loves being in and around the shed.
When I am working in there he walks around the garden saying "Daddy noisy"
He is great fun.
Not much of a topic but a nice photo.
:D

Hi Rich,

Nice picture of Alex, I think this a great topic.
Some of my most favorite childhood memories are the many hours I spent with my Father in his workshop.
A lot of those lessons he taught me there are still helping me today with my turnings.

Cheers!

hiya Rich, What a lovely photo, and what a very nice little boy,God Bless Him. May you enjoy many years of companionship togeather.Regards Boysie.

Great little lad, Rich. You've got the right idea - start 'em in the workshop young :)

I remember my dad letting me make rows of holes in planks of wood (old floorboards, I think) with a big flat bit in a bit and brace when I was about 8 - I loved it. He also taught me to solder (electrical not plunbing) at about the same age with a an enormous old mains electric soldering iron - the bit must have been a good half inch of solid copper and required filing into shape! I have fond memories of soldering all the junctions on a grid of tinned copper wire stretched between rows of nails - there must have been about 64 soldered joints and I was very proud of it. My Mum wasn't so impressed when I insisted it was a lovely ornament for the centre of the dinner table!

42 years later - I still have that old soldering iron and it still works. Dad was not so lucky, we lost him in 1999 at the age of 89.

I do hope my daughter shows at least a passing interest in the workshop. I'm sure as hell not having any more!!

Thanks for all your kind words guys, he is a cracking lad and we have loads of fun.

I had a brilliant time growing up in and around workshops. I hope Alex can have as many good memories as I have.

Why ever not. We have 6 and they have another 8 between them so we are rarely without kids around. Great fun and they keep you young. Wouldn't be without them
