Lithium battery shortage...

Saw this on a motorhoming forum.

For those relying on cordless tools and thinking that their batteries might need replacing over the next few months, it seems prudent to get them now as there is a global shortage of lithium, with a large proportion of it going to electric vehicles. The batteries I was hoping to get as spares aren't likely to be in the UK until at least March.

I thought I remember reading recently that a large deposit of Lithium had been discovered down in Cornwall not too long ago..?
Or did I imagine it ...?

At the end of last year I read there was going to be a shortage of dog food so I bought enough kibble to last until August. No sign of that yet I think?
I also read something about there only being 55 days between Brexit and 1st lockdown, now lockdowns are easing so whats next? Ukraine/Taiwan? As if we all need something to panic over, Govt requires a reason to tell the people what to do.
Not saying there won't be a shortage of batteries, just is it all a string of lies?!?!?!?

I can't understand how, compared to child labour in Africa, how will Cornish lithium ever be competitive?

Maybe not, but it will be better to pollute our own backyard instead of polluting a far off place to extract the minerals which we use as a nation.

Better still if you have the cash invest, buy a quantity of the more common Makita / Dewalt and Bosch batteries then wait until demand outstrips supply and then cash in.

As usual, we as a nation will miss the boat as far as the Lithium deposits are concerned. It was discovered in Cornwall (although not named) in the 18th century. Allied to Casarite. the ore of Tin.
