Hi all

Carrying on the theme of previous work I have finally gotten round to finishing this one.

150mm dia x 150mm high, Ash textured and stained using artist pigment powder, verdigris wax,

The lid is aged with copper foil and patinating fluid, as is the twig.

comments welcome.

Where's the bead?

You can't make things without beads Mark, it isn't you

Seriously, I do like the effect of this though I am sure the purists won't be too keen on the lack of wood showing. I see it as an entity in it's own right (yes I am now fully converted  ) very Japanese looking to my uninitiated eyes.

Hi Mark,

I think out of everyone's work I have viewed there is one thing that strikes me more about your work - it may sound strange but I feel that your pieces look so tangable, I wish I could reach out and touch them.

I think this is because your work looks so visually appealing to me I would like more of that experience.

Well done,

Take care.

Ticks all the boxes for me Mark, your store room must be like Aladdins cave  I really think a book describing your methods would sell well !

Really like what you’ve done with this form Mark, I love the shape too as well as the texturing. Faultless :)

That's simply sublime Mark.
I can see the way this design has evolved subtly, and i have to say i can think of no way to improve it further (and i'm a picky b*gger!).

Hi all

Thank you all for your comments.

I am very, very please to get the cover on WoW.

excellent work as always and really nice to see asparagus making an entrance as a finial (following on from the chilli last year) :)

Hi all

Thank you very much for your comments. I am quite taken aback by all of the comments both on here and in WOW.

This piece I started some six months ago, ( no it has not taken that long to make, just been busy).

The texturing alone took around four hours as each squiggle is burnt individually with a pyrography wire, due to the fine detail, I had to keep stopping as it fried my brain.

So to put so much work into a piece, plus all the research and time spent coming up with the ideas, means that when it works and it is liked so much, all the hard work is worth it.

Thank you all again, but I also want to thank Philip Streeting, who started me down this creative path and continues to help me today.
