hi ive just got a lathe unfortunatley the bed rail part is missing. does anybody know where i can buy a 36mm pole from i dont think its a very good lathe performance power Serial No.J10810 MFG date JFV32 is on the plate. can i use something else or does it have to be a genuine part. any advice is appreciated

thanks

Hi,

that might be a preferred metric size. 1 and 3/8 inch od is only 34.93mm diameter.

try a local steel stockholder for steel tube. Solid bright steel bar would be very heavy. Stainless tube would be expensive compared to the value of the lathe. My lathe bed is two plated steel tubes. I haven't checked diameter but the maker is not in business any more so not a possible source.

If the stockholders cannot supply try contacting:

i don't know if this is coincidence, but I have a PP lathe too, missing ther bed bars. They are 38mm on mine, with cast iron front and rear housing.

How strange?

I have been waiting for a fabricators to make mine up/ find some. Record power have similar size bed bar. Big motor, belt drive, black and silver. Sound familiar. Paid a tenner for mine, in the box. Let me know how you get on, maybe we can help each other out?

If they are 38mm then 1 1/2" bar will do the job. Available from any steel stockholder.
