I like that Tony. Do I spot some kind of magnetic close in the lid?

Edit - did you make that as one piece and then cut the lid off?

Cheers Mike

Very nice Tony. I really like this one, simple but classy. How did you make the top? Is it a panel that 'floats' in a groove or is it all glues together? =D>

Thanks Mike

Yep. Magnets to hold closed - from maplins

One piece and then partial depth cut with table saw followed by a handsaw to finish removing top from bottom

Neil
you should have seen it 10 minutes before the photos

Dom
Floating panel that is only glued in middle of end grains in the slots

Did you every get the website finished?

Andy

Of course :^o

It got to 90% ready and then I had no free time - maybe I'll get it done over xams break

Excellent work as usual, Tony.

Can I ask how you do the mitres? Do you have some kind of mitre trimmer (like the Axminster/Tilgear) or have you made a donkey's ear shoot-thing?

Another fine piece Tony, I've got to produce a small box type item as a member sent me a nice bit of elm, he is probably reading this and wishing i'd get my skates on  might find a bit of time in the near future, if it's any good i'll post a pic.

I cut the mitres using a powered mitre saw (not sliding type) for this box and then cut slots for loose tenons at each joint using the Woodrat.

Any mitres that were slightly rough on the surface were trimmed using a block plane but a decent quality mitre saw with a decent blade works great

You managed to get a box finished, I cant get round to starting one with the temps. down here, the timber is so cold it wouldnt glue up anyway.

Looks a very handy box, nice one.

Tony,

That is a nice box. I like the overall design very much but would have preferred to see the inner dividers much thinner (rather along the lines of the debate on drawer side thickness).

You friend should be well pleased I reckon.
