Not tried this before, but wanted to try boxes with holes cut right through the box before completing any drawers etc. The first two have been completed and others are on the go already.

Superb Malc what wood are they? what about a Cello shaped box with cutouts? or a mouse/cheese block box?
Cheers

Dark wood is Walnut and I have used various combinations of maple, pine and tulipwood for the lighter woods. In this first 'music' style box with the quaver note, the layers of wood were scroll-cut and pieces positioned in different layers to get the combination of white and dark. I found it could be a problem if the wood thicknesses were different, which gave more chance of voids when cut.

Music notes and scrolls are the first 'hole' boxes, but will be doing others later on.
