So i want to make a standard lamp soon and the base needs to be threaded so i can fit it to a metal plate. Does anyone know if you can get lamp fittings with a thread inside? Ive seen some from axminster, but they were not very helpful when i contacted them about it.

Thank you

I'm not quite sure what you need to be threaded, the lamp fitting or some other part? Threaded lamp holders are easily obtainable but what's the base got to do with it?

The bottom of the lamp fitting I would like to find an internally threaded one. But most of the photos I've seen online haven't been very clear...

They are either threaded or plain for pendant fittings. Any electrical supplier or DIY place (even a shed) should have them. Incidentally, the threaded brass inserts are much neater than the plates.

Hello Doris
On eBay search for threaded tube, you can get internal and external threaded tube in various diameters.
I have a client who has a 1930s theme throughout her house and has purchased several standard lamps from that era that have needed a lot of attention, I have used a two part resin to glue a female ( internal threaded) into the standard lamp then a male (external threaded) through the base, held in place with a couple of nuts being tube you can pass the wire through it and pull it up the lamp.
Hope this is help full

Any electrical dealer, like TLC for example, will carry lamp holders with threaded base - even B&Q will have them. You can buy brass fittings - search for "brass lamp nipple", with either parallel lengths of thread, or with a short thread to fit the lamp holder and a coarser (3/8" Whit) thread to screw into wood. Only thing to watch for is that some (older) lamp holders have 1/2" x 26 tpi thred whereas newer ones are metric.
