Who else bought one of the Lie Nielsen 25th anniversary bronze smoothers and what did you think of it ? Ive noticed they are starting to show up on ebay USA for very high markups.

No chance of mine ever being sold either Ian as it was a christmas present.
I was surprised by the number that went to Australia, supposedly fifty with four hundred being sold in North America, leaving only fifty for the rest of the world. To say I was highly delighted with mine would be a gross understatement

Mine is one of the 400 allotted to North America. It was purchased directly from Lie-Nielsen in the USA because it worked out cheaper, even after the cost of shipping was added.

Mine was a Christmas present from my wife.

It is a little known fact that TLN actually created this plane, in association with Lynndy, my wife, for our 25th wedding anniversary. Yes, really.

Derek,
What to say - you trumped anything we have to offer!

I suppose I could argue that Sweetheart irons were for my 21st - or maybe 1st birthday? But then again, maybe not.

In any event congratulations!

Sadly I was too late to get one from L-N US......
Thankfully I was able to get one from L-N Australia!!! Many thanks to Derek for not buying one in Oz as that let me slip in the door.....
Due to problems sourcing a decent supply of Cocobolo the Oz earmarked Anniversary planes have been held up. I am told that the supply problem is solved and that hopefully they should be arriving late April in Oz.
Bring it on home, Mr Postman :D
Cheers
Philly :D
Who does hate to be left out

Tony,

I think you must be a victim of identify fraud. I found these two posts by "you" and one of them must be an imposter. I'll let the other forum members decide which is really you.

Personally , I just want to cut wood and tools do not interest me per se (only their use)

Oh, Phil, no. Didn't they tell you? They're specially designed to work upside down - you'll only be able to plane ceilings and the underside of boards in this hemisphere. #-o

Cheers, Alf

Totally unmoved by said plane, except maybe wishing she'd bought one to sell and make an insanely large and quick profit...

Alf, that's only partially correct - the plane is held the right way up, but it has now been configured to a BU set up. :D
Ooo, well he might just, ah, "scrape" by with that then... <groan>

Cheers, Alf

Worrying about drifting into technical punning. A sure sign of a diseased mind I fear...

True, both were posted by me and I fully intend to use the LN bronze 4.5 to smooth wood

5 minutes after it arrives the box will be in the bin and the plane willl be making shavings

Keep the box -- it'll be worth at least £20 on eBay.

FWIW, I love my 4.5 Anniversary !
