Kreg Router Table - Alternatives?

Hi, Im considering purchasing the Kreg PRS2000 Benchtop router table as it is compact but I may wish to go to a bigger table / homemade table at a later date. My question is whether I can take the plate out and fit to a home made table - is it a good spec or would I need to buy a seperate plate/lift???
