Hi

I think I read somewhere that Kity were bought out, and no longer support older models in terms of spares. I can't now find whatever I was reading. Have I made it up?

I'm hoping you good people can point me to a spares stockist. As per the title, I'm looking for a 240v motor for a Kity 636 P/T.

Thanks

Hi DM
Kity are no more, and as you probably know, the motor is not easy to get at. It is undeneath the machine, and everything that comes of easily does not expose the motor.

The good news is that there is nothing whatsoever special about the Kity motor. If you can get the old one off (you'll probably have to jack up the machine and get underneath without endangering your life - or get it on its side at least), and take that to a motor shop, they will be able to offer you a suitable alternative.

i have a feeling that they are on an odd sized foot/frame (whatever it is called). but take the old one off and take it to a motor place and they should be able to advise.

Yes they tend to be a frame size smaller than readily available motors for a given power rating. So fitting a standard, readily available sensibly priced motor is a case of checking the bigger motor will fit, boring out the pulley to fit a bigger shaft (or machining the shaft down) and moving the mounting holes to allow the belt to be tensioned. All usually doable with a few friends and favour vouchers.
