Hi All,

I have recently bought a Kity CK26 combination machine which i'm really pleased with apart from one small issue. When reassembling the machine in my workshop I noticed the previous owner had mounted the saw blade backwards!

It wasn't until I had put all the machines onto the table I realised why...the motor turns the saw the wrong way. No problem I thought, just reverse the polarity of the motor. However, upon closer inspection the motor turns the right way according to the direction of rotation arrow. The slot morticer trurns in the right direction again, according to the direction of rotation arrow on the chuck housing (I also checked the slot cutters to confirm this was correct). The planer knives are mounted correctly for the direction of rotation.

All the images and documentation shows the blade mounted correctly so what am I missing? I can't be the only one who has encountered this!

Please help I'm baffled and desperate to make sawdust!

Thanks,

Adam

Welcome Jamzoo.
I believe I saw this very item for sale last week or so, I did wonder then.
Unless you have the wrong order of layout in relation to the motor, which rotates clockwise, looking from the pulley end, and bolted behind the saw, careful alignment to the fixing holes in the bed will help.
If this is the direct drive model, you're problem is likely to be switching and clutch electric's,
I have the earlier K5 Model 1979, with no silly electrics to go wrong!
I suggest send me a couple of replies then you can P.M. either Lons or Myford man, they are the ones that may be able to help. HTH

Thanks for the reply Rodders,

I definitely have the right configuration of the machines, I have all of the documentation with the machine. It's not the direct drive version, it's a manual changeover job.

However just had a discussion with my Dad who suggested putting a 180 twist in the belt. The installation does mention putting the twist in to gauge the right belt tension then adding 4mm to the machine position before tightening down.
The instructions don't explicitly say remount the belt with or without the twist so i'm going to give that a whirl and see if it's plausible i.e. the belt doesn't foul on anything or itself.

I'll let you know how I get on!

Adam

I've now set the machine up with the twist in the belt and all is well, blade is running correctly and cutting well. A big relief to get it sorted so easily.

On with the projects!

Thanks all :D

Take care with any bevelled cuts. That tilting table is a swine making it doubly difficult to control a large workpiece to get a decent cut and defy gravity at the same time. One of the worst aspects of the whole machine.
