long story..cut shortish

went to a friends BBQ tonite

out house was full of wood
took a couple of bits and said when u get to burn it all can you save me the veneers stuck at the back

She says load of wood in bottom shed

takes a look an under a sheet is a kity 627
dont know much about them tbh

it seems to have a:

tablesaw
planer \ thicknesser
spindle moulder
a drill chuck hanging off the side

there are 2 large boxes of parts that appear to be part of same machine

1st question...are they any good?
2nd question...how much should I offer?

Steve

Most Kity owners are happy with them, well made and well thought out.
Hardly any spares about, but being so very well made they don't really need any, there's plane irons, saw blades and spindle stuff on Ebay and main suppliers.
There's this from last year,-- and Google kity 627 for more.

The Kity 627 is the part number of the spindle moulder all other machines on the table will have different numbers as the whole package was made up of the machines that the original buyer would have chosen and then all mounted on a table with a single motor.
The drill chuck hanging off the side would be a slot mortiser and is a much under rated bit of kit but can be used for cutting mortises as well as making dowel joints and used as a disc sander.
It's value would very much depend on what accessories come with it I can only say I wouldn't sell you mine as I am almost in love with it.

I have to make some sort of offer for it

there are quite a few boxes containing what i assume are spindle moulders and blades that fit in them
after a google I see the 627 is just a small part
I am unsure that any of it has even been used...still lots of oil wrapped parts still in original packets

If you want a hand with anything, moving. setting up etc more than willing to help (you are not that far away)

no specific experience with the kity but well experienced with combination machines (on my third)

Check with Lons, Look on fleabay and Gumtree etc, I would guess at made in early eighties, They suffer from neglect more than anything else.
Check the motor does not overheat, a replacement I would guess at around £150.00 Also running the motor and look out for hot or worn bearings on the planer and saw bench as the grease can deteriorate.
I've Not seen many of this partiular model come up for sale, Roughly speaking, The old white splay legged model, 15mm spindle that I have go for between,-- no bids, £80-and £300.00, Square legged models up to £450.00,
And the later green, 1990's, clean and tidy, up to £900ish That's private sales, dealers try for more.
Some tooling, blades, cutters etc included seems to keep the price up somewhat.
As this model you are interested in has the bigger capacity machines, I would try for the lower to middle of the above prices.
The machine laying unused for years doesn't seem to affect them at all, but you never quite know for sure.
If you do end up buying this machine, I have no doubt you will be very pleased with it and all it's capabilities.

Hi Steve

I have a some info from the eighties which might be useful though most of my stuff is for the K5.
If you can get a couple of photos I can probably shed some light. You'd need to pm me your email address if you want me to send some pdfs

cheers
Bob
