Jointers

Hi all, have started making picture frames and looking for a jointer planer, have researched good makes but living here in France i can't find any recomended makes apart from the really expensive ones like dewalt etc, as i will only be using it occasionally it's not cost effective spending that sort of money, have any members living in France got any recommendations for a decent jointer around the €300-€400 mark. Thanks in advance.

for picture frames, I would probably suggest a hand plane rather than a budget machine.

France has some lovely wooden planes with lignum vitae bases.

I have a budget machine and have used it once.

Much prefer to use a scrub plane and a smoothing plane.

The finish of a cheap thicknesser planer will not be good enough for picture frames.
