Joining 'Contiboard' (or whatever it's called these days)

I'm making a table to do jigsaws on. The top is large, 125cm by 100cm.

I'm making it from contiboard because it's flat, white and cheap.

I have one board 50cm by 250cm. What"s the best way to join the two halves , given that the join will be 2 plastic edges?

Dowel & glue?

What sort of glue?

Would you glue the plastic as well?

I'd trim off the plastic edging on the edges to be joined. I'd machine those edges with my router so they are a matching fit. I'd join them with biscuits and PVA.

As you will never have an invisible join anyway, leave the edges just as they are, then just screw a ply splint across the join underneath.

If you are doing jigsaws on it why not glue some felt to the top if you want to cover the joint and make it look a bit prettier?

If it wasn't a permanent table you could even use hinges so you could fold it in half for storage.

You would think so, wouldn't you? However, you may have not noticed my location.
