Some of you will remember the regular columns by John Brown in Good Woodworking, about his time as a chairmaker, working without electricity. He probably won't thank me for telling you this, but he's very ill.

I am going to see him next week. I know his columns inspired many woodworkers. If you'd like to say hi, best wishes, thanks or something else, please email me at the email address below.

If you remember John, have a thought for him next time you're in the workshop. If you don't know him, you've missed something!

Cheers

Nick

I'm really sory to hear this. I have a copy of John Brown's book on Welsh Stick chairs. It is probably my most valued book, I have read it so many times with great enjoyment.

My best wishes go to John.

I think his articles were my favourite in the Good Woodworking mag.He was very honest and straightforward and this was reflected in the things he made.I wish him well.
