I'm making a jewelry box for my wife and need some hardware. I need the hinges that fit on the back of the box, velvet lining and a clasp for the front. Does anyone know of internet sites beside Isaac Lord? I went on the Rockler site this morning and they wanted 102 dollars to ship

Thanks in advance

Phil

Can't help you with the clasp, but have a look at the Brusso hinges on the Classic Hand Tools site for top quality brassware - Rob

yep CHT do Brusso, make sure you're sitting down tho...

I made a jewellery box with a hinged lid. I got brass hinges and the locking clasp from B & Q. The locking clasp was probably a little bit too big, but I managed to make it look okay.

Thanks Simon but as I've said I'm just making a lift off lid, as hardware is not easy to come by in Jersey and postage from the mainland is excessive.

Cheers

Phil

I you have a plug cutter? you could fit some of the small rare earth magnets beneath the plug which would hold the lid on and not be seen when open. The are quite strong even though small, just don't go too deep.
