I picked up a Jet JTS 250 saw from ebay yesterday. Lovely bit of kit. Reading round it seems like quite a well regarded machine.

This replaces my kity 419 so I am used to using a saw with two mitre slots for a sliding sled, but also there is no slot to the left of the blade as it comes with the sliding left table.

Does anyone have the left wing and can offer any experience on which they prefer?

I understand there were some left hand extension wings bought in from the USA a while back and JetMan was able to get hold of them. I checked with Brimarc but it appears there are none left.

Anyone got one they no longer want?

Hi Mick

I have this saw & recently bought, with Jetman's help, the left extension to replace the sliding table. I then added a Kreg mitre gauge & so far I am finding this much more accurate & easier to remove mitre gauge when not needed. I got the Kreg as I have also just got their router table top as I might use the mitre gauge on it & get an Incra for the saw.

Hope this helps.

That sounds like a great solution. I fear you might have had the last side extension though!!

I've mailed him, fingers crossed...

I've not had a response back from JetMan yet, I'm assuming he is on holiday as my message is still in my outbox, but I think the supply of these has now run out.

Does anyone know if this tablesaw is a clone of any other? I could explore that avenue if this one has dried up.

Alternatively, could I make one out of some board and t track? Might be an option!??!?

I got my extension from Biven Machinery, might be worth phoning to see if they can track one down for you. www.bivenmachinerysales.co.uk you will need to phone as lots of stuff not on their website.

Good luck!

Hi Charile
Just spoke to Dave. I bought a kreg fence from them some years ago before they shut down (then started up again!)

You are the lucky owner of the very last side wing in the country! Apparently they had to scour high and low for it and they are no longer made.

I wont hold it against you. ;-)

So back to alternatives. Wondering if I can make my own with some t-track....

Hi Mick

Sorry to hear you can't get one. I know nothing about metal working so this is probably a stupid suggestion, could you get a local engineering co to machine a mitre slot into the existing sliding table?

The thought had crossed my mind, but I dont think there is enought depth in the sliding table due to the way it is manufactured to work on the slides. I'll certain take it off and have a good look though.

I too had that saw, it came with the sliding table but was able to obtain a lleft extension from Nick Brown (jetman). I personally preferred the fixed wing and never actually fitted the sliding table.

The only problem with the left wing is the mitre track is, if memory serves 7" from the blade where most other saws the distance from track to blade is 5". This really only becomes a problem if you are using a tenoning jig as there is not enough travel in the jig to reach the blade.

A friend of mine also had the same saw but he preferred the sliding table. I know he had the left wing packed in a box under the saw. He has sold the saw now but may still have the left extension wing.

He is on this forum under RichardS. a PM to him may prove fruitful.

ah ha!! I have spoken with the very man recently about his Xcaliber saw. It was just out of my price range, but I think I might have his nuimber somewhere. I'll give him a buzz.

Many thanks David!

Hi mickthetree, sorry for delayed reply but as per pm I've just sent - they have all gone and I can't track one down anywhere despite a couple of calls earlier

best regards
Nick

Mick,

I see that rutlands have an offer on T track today and a bit of that set into a wooden fabricated extension wing might be a way ahead?

MM

Thanks MM. I'm thinking that might be the way to go. A cast extension would be nice, but if well built I dont see a bit of laminated worktop with T-track in posing any issues. I could bolt it to the main top and fence rail and use shims to fine adjust it.

Thanks for the heads up!!
