Well after the little tip from JPT,thanks John :D :D i was straight on the phone to Phil Irons the following day asking if i could come down and pick my lathe up this weekend, and with a bit of arm twisting Phil very kindly said YES.Hooray
So i managed to get me old mukka and his pick up arranged and we went and collected later today.
Phil was their waiting with the lathe unpacked and this was the first time i had seen a 175,and i was gobsmacked,as they say,by it.What a lot of cast and weight
It took the three of us to get it on the truck and and Phil very kindly tied it well down for us,we said our goodbyes and we were off, very slowly :D
My mate managed to reverse his truck into the garage so the back end was right against the bench where the Vicy will reside :D ,so we just slid it off onto the bench, simple
It's not set up yet but here are a few piccys for starters.
Just in time for the comp :D
Also gotta say what a great bloke Phil is,very helpful and just took his time with us after giving up his Sunday afternoon.Cheers Phil,if your watching :D

I will let you know how it is when it's all set up and had a goo on it :D

I'm truly pleased for you Paul. It's been a long hassle lathe wise for you this last 12 months. That looks like a mean machine. At last you can make some dents in the wood pile hiding your workshop. Look forward to seeing your output.

That is a really nice looking lathe.
I have always liked the vicmarc range. I had a close look at the Ally pally last year and they are fantastic!!!
Have fun :D

No sleep tonight then Paul  , will check in before I go to gym in the morning to see how production is going (hammer)

Looks like you will need a different pot of colour coordinated paint now.

Paul ....... fantastic !

I bet you can hardly contain yourself, waiting to get that beast producing !

Congratulations on its arrival... and can't wait to see the stuff you'll produce with it ! looks brilliant !

Very, very happy for you  8) 8) 8) :D :D :D

fantastic Paul. It looks like a lovely machine. Good that you met Phil, he's another of the pro's who's work I really like. Would be nice to go up and spend a day with him sometime.

Pics of you first hollow form pls..... ;)

Nice to see you kitted out again Paul. What a great lathe!
When are painting it to match the stand?? :D :D
regards, beejay

Congratulations Paul, I would have gone down to collect as well, don't think I could have waited either.

HI Paul

Good to see you have the beast at last.

You probably wont read this till some time in the early hours of Tuesday morning as you will be setting it up and giving it a test. :D

Doubt if we'll get an answer to this thread today. Paul is no doubt out in his garage 'playing with his toy'
Sorry for not replying folks and thanks for all the replies. :D
Woke up this morning feeling terrible weak as a kitten, and the way i feel at the moment i doubt i will even get out the door :( Marvellous ain it.
TomThe head does swivel round allowing pieces of upto 36" dia to be turned, though it looks i will have to wait a while longer to do that as the outboard attachments, one of which i ordered weren't on the shipment, but Phil is going to try and get me one sooner :D
The Vicmarc benches are Grey i think so i might paint mine the same we'll see.

Take it easy Paul. The lathe can wait a bit longer. I'd say spend some time planning what you're going to make, but I bet you've got a list as long as your arm. ;)

Hope you feel better really soon, Paul ...
timing couldn't be more unfortunate !

It'll still be there tomorrow.. so don't rush it if you're not feeling at the top of your game.

All the best Pal..
It'll come together, nae worries !  8)
