It is not always sunny in Hawaii, these trees were created using the mirror tool in Painter X5 and attempted to create an overcast day, holiday photograph used but all freehand painted.

Painting Ok John, think it would be better as a 'Less is More' subject with just the one offset windswept tree, don't think the mirror image works, to me it looks unnatural with the opposing branch deflections.

OK, CHJ, Years ago I did paint the scene on paper and watercolour, it had composition problems then, it is a very barren coastline at that location but scene is attractive because of lack of vegetation around, except that very windblown tree.

But thanks for looking and your comments.

The white surf and sea needs working on to provide splash/spray in correct direction as opposed to blurred/smudged mist.
Foreground needs sharp sand/grit small pebbles or rocks texture as apposed to blurred, not enough to dominate but look more natural.

My way of painting, quickie around 30 minutes , this was nearly all air brush and painted without any line work. Tree was a hard edge marker pen.

Try adding in some small hard edge pen streaks into the airbrush areas and then smudge them in a little.
Keeps the impressionist aspect but adds movement.
Just a couple of minutes once you have the background and main subject, you've a steady hand with that hard edge pen by the way.

Mind you who am I to be passing comment on art, I'm hopeless at it, just know which I prefer and purchase.
