Is this maple ply or maybe spruce?

Is anyone able to confirm what this is likely to be please? I was told it was an oak veneer by the sales guy, but looks more like maple or maybe spruce. It’s very light in colour. I like it, but do want to know if it’s worth the price they are asking before I question what it is on my next visit

Looks like a rotary cut Beech to me unusual to find that used as a decorative veneer but often used to make plywood.

I'd agree it's likely American maple compare to this detail of a bench top I made a while back in the stuff -

Thanks again all. So the one thing we all definitely agree on is that it’s not oak! So as a follow on question, assuming this is maple or birch ply… for an 18mm 8x4 sheet with one very good face, one with some plugs but otherwise pretty spot on they are asking for £85 delivered locally. Does that sound like a good deal?

£85 is a good price. I've been quoted £100/110 + vat for 18mm BB/BB Birch plywood. Delivery extra if I do not spend £500.
