Recenty I'm finding that I have to scroll across the page to read all the posted messages, my set up is about 4 years old with a 17" flat screen, is it me or am I missing somethig?

People posting large images (in pixel width I mean)?

Or your resolution is on something low?

Adam

I have the same problem

but it's not my system (newish build) .... I think this happens when large pictures are posted .... they stretch the message area over screen size to fit thus giving a wider space for the text to fill

then again I may be wrong .... I'm, sure someone will let us know if I am

Have the threads in question got large pictures in them? it only needs one to cause the browser to expand to accommodate.

Have you changed the screen resolution say to 800 X 600 instead of 1024 X 768

Edit: obviously took too long posting this.

Long urls as well as large images can cause the problem. Sometimes wide avatars can cut down width of the message part of the screen a good deal too, which can also cause problems. But the mods are quick to sort those out; not sure if we ever got a rule up on image width though?

Alf, Item (6.) sets Avitar size as 140X140, have not located Picture size as yet.

Sorry, Chas, I meant non-avatar image size. When I typed it I had a feeling it was a bit ambiguous but was too lazy to edit.

Likewise, re-read your post to see I had jumped the gun

I reduce all the pics I post to 800 pixels wide as Sketchup exports pictures to a silly size (mind you that might be because I'm doing it on a widescreen laptop).

Well you are quiet correct, big pictures and long URLs will cause the forum page to expand sideways. :(
I will own up to 'adjusting' URLs to reduce their length, (while wearing my mod hat,) but pictures are much more difficult to fix and I have PMed a few members asking them to resize them for the benefit of easy reading by other members.

SO if you get an odd PM please don't take afence I am only trying to make browsing easier. \:D/
