Is it Morticer or Mortiser?

I always thought it was Morticer.

Here is another one is it Cill or Sill ? as in window cill.

I think it should be morticer… but mortiser seems to be used more often worldwide..
less difference in the Uk

The dictionaries suggest the word originates around 1400 in France as "mortaise" or possibly from the middle east.
I'm with Adam. It's one of those spelling which are made with a "c" in the UK and an "s" in the USA.
Thanks to google etc the US spellings are becoming more common across the internet so no surprises there.
