Hi all,

I've got to get quiet a lot of Iroko at various thicknesses (about £900 worth).

I was going to use Clarkswood in Bristol, but was really annoyed that neither when talking to the rep or checking their price list, did they mention a 35% wastage addition - until it was practically too late; so out of principle I would sooner find an alternative supplier.

they must be able to deliver to West Wales, and it must be good grade timber for large garage doors. I've tried S&L but unfortunetly they were extremley expensive (£400 dearer!)
Can anyone recoomomend an alternative supplier. I do now accept that I will have to pay wastage, but just didn't like the fact they weren't up front.

regards
Mark

Don't know if it's any use to you,but have you tried Isca Hardwoods in Cardiff ? (www.iscahardwoods.com)

Not sure if they only do native hardwoods, but they are the nearest I can think of to you

Do what you feel is best but if they are that much cheaper I'd save all the hassle of finding another supplier and just buy from the original supplier.
Looking around is usually just frustrating. Esp if its a decent price.

that seems a high waste percentage. when ever i have used iroko, never had a problem with wastage , no sap knots or other defects always ripped it few mill wider and left it to move for a day but never had that much wastage.
