Wow!

What type of wood did you use? I'm new to all these and intarsia is one of many things to try...

Mahogany (I think) and oak, plus lime for the teeth.

The tongue, nose inner mouth and eye are dyed.

"Good that you have an apprentice " lol glad ya think so.......... why do people offer their help and then totally ignore ya when your explaining how to do it? still every little help eh

Ah well, that's cos she's a wife first and an apprentice second...

Just been having a closer look at your Wolfhound and noticed you have done some lovely texturing? I couldn`t see it on the tablet but my big screen shows up better. I use a ball end burr (Dremel) which works well on most wood but softer woods it tends to chew it up. Don`t be tempted to buy any of these as they are rubbish and not cheap.

Saburr bits are better for big stuff but the cheap sets on Ebay like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50pcs-Diamond ... Sw241Ydfi~ are excellent for hardwoods.

I got these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20pcs-1-S...Rotary-Tool-/171946314553?hash=item2808cc8b39 and they seem to work fine

I fancy the burrs but expected the diamond coated bits to be a bit slow for wood. Presumably that is not the case.

Keep up the great work
Brian

Thanks

Phill

Lovely looking dog Phil, well done Sir!

Re rotary tools, I scored a set of dental burrs (unused) from my dentist. They have been a great help in some fine metal bits I've used them on and I'm hoping they help with some Intarsia I've got planned but not started yet. We'll see. Otherwise I do use the little rotary sanding drums that the likes of Dremel sell. They come in 2 diameters and about 2 or 3 different grits. They work well on wood (AND on "routing" out the cut-outs in the plastic bodies of electrical surface-mount sockets and junction boxes!).
