Anyone downloaded it and tried it out yet...?

DOES it use less memory space..? thus freeing up valuable space occupied by apps i'll never use that can't be deleted..?

Only on my phone so far. Can't see that much difference really. Bit wary of putting it on my iPad until it's been out a while longer!

Yes, installed on an iPhone and iPad yesterday; no issues so far, a few things that are 'different', a few things that are better. Be aware that you need the current iDevices to have all the new features, and some things that sync across devices (e.g. the Notes app) need any Mac that syncs to be running OSX 10.11 - which won't be released until the end of the month or thereabouts.

WRT storage space, no, it doesn't seem to take any less than iOS 8.xxx - slightly more if anything, though I'm working from memory (sorry) as I didn't make a note of what my 'available capacity' was before installing.
