Introduction of sorts

Hi, didn't seem to be a general thread, so I thought I'd make myself known.

I'm a man of many talents and a master of none. Currently taking a break from work to spend more time with the family and erm, do some woodworking (which is kind of the opposite of spending time with the family).

I recently inherited a free standing bandsaw (a bit of a surprise birthday present when it turned up at 11pm in the back of a ford escort) which seems to be of industrial quality whilst only being single phase.

First thing I've got lined up is making an advanced screw box joint jig. I'm planning on having a go making some man cave type accessories and decorating them with a lichtenberg generator (so a bit of dicing with death which is fairly normal in my workshop).

I'm also looking forward to building a pole lathe, though I doubt it'll get much use this time of year, but you never know.

Neither do I frankly! Especially since the fusebox I use in the garage is my brewing one...

Safety Advice From that weblink

1. Never work alone. Always have someone watching that can get help if you get shocked.

2. Always wear insulated footwear and gloves.

3. Always check and then double check that the transformer is disconnected before touching a lead. Do not trust switches. It's too easy to forget to turn one off. Always disconnect the transformer by unplugging it.

4. Most important of all: Always, ALWAYS, use only one hand when touching a lead. Even if you know the transformer is unplugged still follow this rule. Your other hand should be carefully tucked behind your back. If a mistake is made and only one hand is touching a hot wire, that hand may be burned but the current is less likely to travel through your heart, which it could easily do if you grabbed a lead in each hand.

thats very cool.. might have to add that to the list of things to do.. though it will be near the end of the list.. Due mainly to wanting to do stuff before going boom..lol
