Apologies if this is Grandma ovum time but I nearly got caught out.

One of my (very very tiny) savings accounts had a very good rate but only for one year. Thereafter it dropped to a fabulously generous 0.1%. Well someone has to pay for SnoutBoy Goodwins' pension.

I'd forgotten all about it and only happened to stumble across it. Luckily my one year runs out in April so I've not lost out this time round.

But think of us poor pensionsers Roger.

When I retired I was still banking on 12% return from my Northern Rock account.

Also I recall around the same time a bank salesman came to our home and offered me a gilt edge return that was paying the equal of 17%, (War Loan).
