Hi guys,
Wanted your opinions on this insulation my brother kindly has borrowed (ahem!)from his workplace.
Its in huge sheets, seems to be 2inch foam material with a heavy glossy felt on one side and a thin matt felt on the other....I believe they are repairing the roof on my brothers factory with this.
Anyhoo,do you guys think this would be suitable insulation to use on my shed(bearing in mind its free and I can get as much as I need),can I use it as is,or should I strip the heavy glossy felt from it first(may ruin the sheet by doing this).
Let me know what you think or if anyone has used this type of insulation on there sheds.Cheers.
Last pic will probably give u the best idea of what its like

Looks like the stuff I used for my insulation, I think it was called extratherm although I can't be sure. Anyway the main thing is that it works, I've not yet had any heating on in the shop this winter.

Hi Waka,
Thanks for replying to my thread.Wanted to know how you used this insulation?,did you strip off the glossy thick felt before using it or use it as is?
Did you include an airgap with it?My studs are 50mm and the insulation is 45 mm.Was planning on scraping the airgap and using as is.(hoping the t&g would breathe anyway)
I plan to use this on my walls and roof.
Any info would be most welcome.
Cheers.

After you've fitted it, put a vapour barrier sheet over the whole lot before you board it. Presuming you have a vapour permeable membrane on the outside, under your external cladding (or nothing) I think you'd be fine.

Thanks guys for ur replys,
This is what is confusing me,as I said one side has a thick plastic coating(4mm/5mm thick) as far as I know this is the top layer of the roof at my brothers factory, the other a thin felt cover.
So,Should I remove this layer(as there is another layer of thin felt type stuff underneath, the same as the other side) or bung it in as is,plastic coating and all.
Also the thin felt material on the sides, would this be a vapour permeable covering??if so surely I could forgo the expense of putting up a seperate v.permeable sheeting?
Any thoughts?
Cheers.
