inspired by johnB's pens with aluminium accents and johnnyT's elm and ally form and wondering what to do to kill five minutes whilst standing in the workshop having a cooling drink...
EUREKA! :idea:
well, i thought, looking at the coke can, that's aluminium, i have scissors, glue and a band-saw. lets try it
AND VOILA
my first multi-medium turning.
not the best piccys but you can see what i was getting at
sliced a bit of timber with the band-saw, super-glued a slice of coke can between the pieces and left it in the vice whilst i walked the dogs, stuck on lathe , poked with skew and (very) roughly finished to see if it would work. and it did! i may now sacrifice a proper blank and see what happens
