Hi chaps,

I've just finished my frame in a partition wall for swimbos walk in ish wardrobe.

I've spent hours making sure its square and level and I'm please with it. Hopefully the time spent keeping it right will aid me when hanging the doors!

Jasonb has spec'd my blum 107 degree inset hinges (4 each side) which should hopefully arrive tommorow.

The doors are 12mm mdf with 6mm stuck on stiles (mitre mate) to make them look pretty.

The frame measures 1210 mm Wide by 1820 High (internal)

What would you suggest for a gap around the door? i.e. each door could be cut to 600mm wide by 1810mm high leaving a 3mm ish gap around the frame and in between the two doors and 5mm top and bottom of the doors. Would this be about right?

I'm asking now as I don't have a panel saw or table saw but I have an uncle who has so I'd like him to size the doors for me leaving me to assemble and fit.

Thanks

I usually size them with a 2mm gap. so that would be 602mm x 1816mm doors

That way you can always plane a bit off if needed, easier than adding it on

On that size of door I would allow 2mm all around and between the doors so your height would be 1816mm and width 602mm. A 5mm gap top and bottom will look a bit crude.

cheers

jon

edit jason beat me to it but great minds etc :D

Traditionally the thickness of an old penny - I don't know what current coin would do.

This is (a) an indication of my age and (b) an indication that I haven't hung any new doors recently!
