Can anyone explain what is the best birch ply for use in furniture where lines of the ply is used in the design. I,ve seen BB quality etc. and finished faced but no idea what it means. Also any idea where I can get the right stuff (I live near Burnley in Lancashire) and what sort of price it is for say a 12mm 8x4 sheet. Sorry if this has been asked before but the birch ply at my local B&Q is full of repair marks so struggling to find it. Thanks Andy

Hi
I was in the B&Q warehouse in Bolton at the weekend. They had 8x4x3/4 birch ply excellent quality around 40 pounds a sheet a think. Not too far from you.

The B&Q stuff is variable quality though, sounds like its better up north :) . The stuff I picked up from my local one looked pretty good in the sheet, but once I started using it, it's pretty rubbishy, not too many voids, but insufficient glue, bits keep dropping out of it  . Even though I'm only using it for cabinets in the workshop, its barely good enough.
I'm also interested to know what I should be looking for, for furntiure quality ply. Is it just birch, preferably nordic ply I should be seeking?

Edit, scrub that, sorry, I've just read the link posted by bjm and it all makes sense now

Pat.
