While thumbing through a magazine SWMBO came across some wooden hinges and she now wants me to try and add them to a blanket box I am making for her.
Not having made any before I have been looking at the Incra HingCrafter. http://www.woodpeck.com/hingecrafter.html which seems a good way of producing them. Has anyone used it?

If not, have any of you made your own hinges by hand (without a manufacturers Jig), or are there any other jigs on the market?

Thank you in advance.

Cheers

suprasport,

I have just made some, from a tutorial, and they are remarkably easy, the trickiest part is drilling straight, and there is more set up time involved than anything else. but if you make a few at a time then this is well worthwhile, i am going to make some more soon. http://www.gifkins.com.au/SingleActionWoodenHinge.pdf

give it a try

Magic, thanks for link I will try it for myself.

Cheers

David Charlesworth also has a step-by-step guide on how to do these in Vol 2. of his book, looks complicated by when you break it down I think they are do-able if you take the time and would be much more rewarding than using a jig that might only get used once or twice a year or so.
