Evening gents,
didn't know where to put this but as I've only ever posted in this room, it felt right. I've been into wood butchery for a while now doing the odd job and this and that. Spent more time playing with tools than using them and I'm not afraid to say so
we all do it.
Last year I did a restoration course of fine furniture. The experience was fantastic, being in a place with like minded people of all ages and race for the same reason was refreshing and my anxieties of school and going back to college disappeared instantly. I learnt many things but I'd say what I took from the course most is that I don't want to do French polishing, the most boring thing I've ever done and that's saying something..
I digress,
While on the course the tutor was a man named David who also teaches the furniture course, naturally we talked about tools of old and such, from that moment I knew I had to do this course!
On Thursday I went to the open day at pool college for a sniff about, to keep this long story short I filled out the application and am waiting for my summons for an interview, then enrolement.
The first year is just hand tools) I should be ok. Only when you progress to the 2nd year can you go into the machine room (h&s)
I'm very excited about this and wanted to share my news.. I'm also going to (with the help from my partner) create a blog and as I do the course keep uploading what I'm doing, thoughts, you name it to help other who are in my boat (newbies)
