I'm looking for a bit of advice on repairing some IKEA Krokstorp doors. The kitchen is over 7 years old now, so the doors are no longer made (and as far as I can tell, no longer available anywhere).
Our dog likes to sleep in the corner with her back against 2 doors, and the coating has begun to crack and delaminate at the bottom. It's obviously worse when she comes in wet, and water penetrates the coating.
I've carefully cut away the damaged coating, leaving 2 patches about 10 x 10mm each on one of the doors.
Question is, how do I treat the mdf to get rid of the "fluffiness" and what is the best coating to restore the colour? I'm assuming that wood hardener would not be a good idea.
