Identifying Startrite saw bench

Hi All,

New user here. Enthusiastic hobbiest, very much still learning.

I have the chance to buy a Startrite tilt arbor saw but don’t know what model it is. It’s like the 725 but from what I can gather, they all look pretty similar from that era.

I’m curious to know but also to get an idea of the second hand price is reasonable (~£800).

Are spares easy enough to get? It’ll need a size cabinet cover for example.

Can I tell from just the serial number?

Surely if it has a serial number plate it will state the model number?

I would not expect many/any spares to be available given posts here about repairs and making riving knives from scratch etc.

It looks like a TA 165 or a TA 175 model.

It's not a TA 145 which is the small version, or a TA 275 which is the largest model...

It also states that it's a 415v 3 phase motor. Just thought I'd mention that in case you hadn't spotted it ??

I have one just like it, bought it 30 years ago for £50 mind you its fence was missing so its been replaced with a homemade version. Good machine, really i ought to rebuild it properly!
