I have the bigger 12" SIP and in my opinion it is an excellent saw, it cuts anything I throw at it perfectly, without missing a beat, and if looked after, will I am sure last me a lifetime.

On the other hand if you are talking about the Delta Unisaw (especially the new one) and money was no object (because it is going to cost you a hell of a lot more then the SIP), then I would without a shadow of a doubt go for the Delta.
If the SIP is so good then why dump it for the Unisaw I hear you ask. Well its just the same as an Audi, it gets you every where you want to go on time and in relative comfort, but put a Aston Martin DB9, V12 Vanquish, DBS Volante or the £1.2 million 200mph "One-77" in front of me, and my knees would go weak, and I would give you my wife and camels to get one. They both get you from A to B, but the Aston like the Delta does it with style.

Of course most of this is all in the mind. Its just like Festool, most of the time we are paying for the name.

There is an alternative to the Delta and thats the Xcalibur 806/807 sold by Woodfords http://www.woodfordwm.co.uk/ (look under semi pro about halfway down the page) which is a Delta clone and hell of a lot cheaper then importing one from the US. A few members have one of these and they are supposed to be very good.

Good luck

A happy SIP user

Mike

NOOO, i really want the Unisaw but this is not, it is the delta Hybrid 1 3/4 HP.

I too have the SIP 12" and all I can say is go for the SIP you WON'T regret it. China or not it is one hell of a saw.

Like this one then http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page ... okietest=1

Looks ok, but you would be better off looking for one over here or a clone. On the other hand the SIP would be as equally as good.

By the way there is a forum member who is looking for members to join a group where they can save money importing 10 Deft's

EDIT our posts crossed.

Cheers

The whole thread. Cisco is asking to see if he can get 9 others to join him, so that he can import them. have a word with him because he has ironed out a lot of the problems since that thread first statred.

And of course looking back at your posts I have just realised that you are from Spain, so importing it to the UK would do you no good anyway :D I think that you best bet would be to buy a SIP from your country or the UK.

Axminster do a very good clone http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp? ... =1&jump=44 and they will deliver to spain with no problem at all. Best of all their customer service is first rate.

I to am looking for a new table saw as well. I was looking at the Delta Uni Saw or the Powermatic 2000 as i haven't found any comparable saws locally. Some one mentioned the Deft saw. How does this compare with Powermatic and Delta? I'm not looking to commit till mid January or early February to such a purchase. It seems hard to compare table saws. Does anyone have or seen a head to head comparison of table saws like fine woodworking does?

The sedwick looks very heavily built but doesn't seem to have the fit and finish of the powermatic or the delta uni saw. The SIP saws look alright but again don't seem to have the fit and finish of some of the American saws. I know that Europe makes some great kit, but some how table saws are not part of that unless you get into panel saws or commercial equipment which I don't have the space for.

Any perspectives on this would be appreciated.
