Hi All.

I have to be honest i have only joined to see if i can get some help.

I have the following lathe for sale, and was going to ask for some advice on the price,

PREFORM CAST BED AND MACHINE ENDS, WITH PLATE STEEL LEGS. EASY TO REMOVE AND FIT TO A BETTER SURFACE,

10 SPEED.

wood turning lathe has not been used much,

sitting in my father in laws shed, comes with a larger Chuck and key and a full set of wood working tools.

single phase 240 volts (runs off the mains with a 13 amp plug)

looking for £200 cash on collection,

i will see what other info i have on this.

but for now thank you for your help and advice.

SR if you post picture links a moderator or member will sort them out until such time as the spam trap leaves you alone.

I guess it's similar to this,

The Perorm make was Axminsters own budget entry brand and I can't find the same lathe on their site now so looks like they stopped doing it, nearest I could find is this which is much the same and £262 new.

Boxed toolset like that £62 and maybe £80 or so for a chuck (guessing), so around £400 new if that helps.

Might be worth posting on the woodturning section as some of them/us don't get out to the other boards that often

Cheers, Paul :D

It was the cheaper version of this one, (one down in spec.) to the one Paul pointed to, served me well for a couple of years until I learnt enough to know how not to tackle a piece of wood.
About £170 new at the time I bought one 5 years ago if I remember correctly.

thank you

i think the asking price is a good one.

just need to find the best place to post the pictures,

thank you all for your help and advice.

kind regards

bob.

I personally did not take umbrage because of the opening apology and the item is more than likely up for sale due to family misfortune by the comments made regarding source.

Yes your right, hence the reason for withdrawing my post. I did not read his opening post before I read yours, and so I did not realise he was that new a member

sorry to anyone who i may have offended,

but the reason for sale is simple, its owner passed away just three months ago and the family business is up for sale and we just wanted it to go to someone who would use it.

I don't use ebay, but i was directed here by a good friend that thought it would be the proper place to advertise it and get a good price as well as find it a good home.

I will withdraw the thread and hereby ask the Moderators to remove it and my account, as it seems some have lost not just a dummy but the teddy from their pram too.

it was never meant as a post to bend the rules or deceive anyone, but rather a simple way of recovering a bit of cash for what is a rather nice bit of kit.

thank you all for your help and best wishes to those that need to find the bits missing from the pram.

kind regards and best wishes to those that care,

bob.
