I have a new website. I really didn't think I could do this - and I was right! With a lot of help from a local specialist, basically teaching me what to do, I have completed a fair wack of its design and re-editing my articles, which have now been uploaded. There are still some links to go in, for example you will need to backspace out of articles.

Some of the files are large as I wanted to keep each article as a single page. The file images are small (40 Kb) and should load quite quickly, but they may need to be reduced even more (to 20 Kb). In other words, there is still a bit of editing, re-formatting to do ...

There is still missing stuff, such as contact details, etc, but otherwise it is functional. Note that links to the old address (on wkfinetools) no longer work.

The new address is: www.inthewoodshop.com

There are already a couple of new articles, and a few more on the way. I hope you enjoy the site and use it as a reference. All feedback is welcomed to improve matters.

One article that may be of interest is "Setting Up and Using a Shooting Board"

Hi Derek,

Meant to just stop and bookmark your new site but got sucked in and just spent a good hour or more having a look round !

Very interesting, useful and inspirational too.

Fantastic, thanks !

Cheers, Paul. :D

Hi Derek, looking smart, one comment to make about colour contrasts.
It may be characteristics of my eyesight but I find the Intense Blue links Text on the Black background difficult to read.

I find Cyan much easier to focus on:

Yeah, I have had a few ... uhmmm constructive criticisms about the blue on black. Not everyone has my keen sense of the aesthetic, it seems. It will be altered. The front is done already. The remainder must wait till tomorrow.

Thanks for the feedback. It is appreciated.

Derek - agree with Chas about the 'blue on black'! Wow...about 10 seconds was all I could look at before my eyes started to hurt - Rob

Great site Derek

If you click on the items they change to purple and much easier to read

Tiny point on chamfering the far side of the piece to avoid spelching; you say that using a chisel makes it harder to get a square chamfer. If one knife cuts the shoulder lines before shooting this is not difficult at all. Place the chisel in the knife line, which was made (of course) with a square.
