Large Olive wood fruit bowl,
31cm x 7cm... Overall height 11cm A real pain to turn, was airborne more than once...

Agreed, looks very nice.

Have to admit, as a newcomer to turning, it slightly worries me that even experienced turners still experience flying objects. :unsure: What chance do I have?:censored:

It happens to me more than usual because i don't really have access to dry store bought blanks, most of my wood comes to us as firewood and you never know what surprises are contained within... in this case the area where i put the motice had a patch of punky rot, this combined with only having the regular small jaws on my Nova chuck and also trying out a slightly different grind on my bowl gouge caused the projectile events, good job none of my cats were around at the time!
